Boil potatoes until well done. Drain well. Pour in melted butter and mix well, using spoon to break apart potatoes. Add salt, pepper and basil and blend well. Add cream, blending well. Add more cream if potatoes seem too dry. Adjust salt and pepper as desired.
For parsley potatoes, substitute fresh parsley for basil.
